Somewhat Delirious

I have a problem with sleep, I normally do not get enough. I have not slept for the last over the last 48 hours. It all started last night. After passing out a few candy bars at SFU with invitation’s to the points Easter service, we went to go and play broomball.Broomball, Collin Broomball is a crazy game. We went to a ice rink at UVIC, to play. I was prepared to play, wearing only my Master’s Commission sweatshirt, to keep out the cold. Soon after starting to play, I would no longer need this cold air barrier. Broomball consists of two large teams of fun loving young people, running on ice (in normal shoes); tripping, falling, checking, throwing your stick flaylalaly into the air, and so much more. You are basically trying to score the most points; hitting, kicking, blocking, and any other physical possible way of getting these two small orange balls into hock style nets. broomball

mow GameI will start from the beginning of staying up late last night. A lot of us started playing Mow. Now if you have never played Mow, then you should try. I can only tell you that you play something like Uno and you cannot tell anybody the rules. You have to figure them out for yourselves. So, we ended up playing for a number of hours… I think until about three am. Well, some of use had the hair brain idea of staying up all night. I will let you in on some of our adventures.Mow thinking hard

If you can imagine four people staring at a white board, trying to figure out a how to draw a really weird shape, it’s some kind of math problem. Well, the thing that is funny about it is the time… about 4am. It about this time that we figure that it is time to go on an Adventure. So left, to look for food. Even though we had food in the kitchen, it is much more fun to go and look for it somewhere else. Well, there is not a lot that is open at 5am in the morning in our part of Vancouver BC. So we stood outside of a gas station laughing and telling stories. If you have had very many experiences staying up late, you might have realized that everything is a lot funnier when it’s late. At 6 am, McDonalds opened and we went there. Our conversation went from one end of the spectrum to the other. To show just how far it went, we even talked about Ketchup packet ethics. If you take a Ketchup packet, and don’t use it… do you put it back. If not when does it become wasteful to throw it away. Is it at 10, 100, 1,000… etc. Then what is that makes it wasteful. I guess that I’ve taken to many philosophy classes. Then I took my McDonalds Coffee to Starbucks, where others of us got some espressos. We went back to the Church, only to realize that was no fun. So we made way to a nearby park. It is fun to play on the little toys. I did an underdog for one of my friends, and haven’t done that in a long time. I also tried to jump off of the swing, but ended just rolling on the ground and being not quite as smooth as I would like. Well, that morning was the only difficult time that I had staying awake. We had a debriefing kind of thing and kept wanting to nod off. Then we prayed for what seemed like forever… so difficult to stay awake.

Today was our off day. We went and visited a Buddhist Temple and a Seek Temple.

At the Seek Temple, I was amazed at their hospitality. It was at a quality that I have not seen in Churches. They sent somebody around with us to explain everything that people were doing, and provided a meal for us. During the meal, our tour guide didn’t stop serving us and attending to our needs. Really a call to our Churches to rise up. It was also a sad day, because some of our group left. Both the groups from EWU and UW left. That included Joanna from UW, who was one of us who stayed up all night. So sad… We went to Gastown, to do some shopping. I ate shrimp for dinner. Well, and it seems that I always have trouble getting to bed at a reasonable time.
