Sometimes in our lives, we need little escapes from life. This last weekend, I got to get away, and have a good time. My friend Heather and I had been planning to go to Louisiana for a conference with our Church. She is living in Moscow Idaho right now, going to University of Idaho, so we don’t get together too often. We had been planning the trip for several months, plane tickets where bought, and we were excited. That was all until Katrina hit, and our plans were forced to change. We still wanted to go and do something (our plane tickets aren’t refundable, but we can trade them for something within the year). We decided to go to Portland for the weekend. Her brother and Fiancé, and my aunt and uncle live in that area. It was a good trip, and I really had a good time. Although, I did get a bit consumed with my thoughts and worries a couple of times, I still over all had a great trip. We arrived in Troutdale Wednesday night, and just hung with her family. Thursday we went to the Zoo, and out to eat at the best restaurant in the world (Red Robins). Friday, we went to Hawthorn St and met my aunt for lunch. Then we went and drove around town, and made our way over to her Grandma’s house. My are still scratched up from playing with their aggressive kitten. Heather bought a cool coat from G. I. Joes (looks really nice on her, and will be warm for this cold Idaho winter). Her brother also got himself a new coat. Saturday we went to the Saturday Market, which was a lot of fun. Heather got a cartoon caricature done, and we heard some cool street music. But for me the best part was riding the Train. On the way up to the Saturday Market, we got to share about what Jesus has done in our lives with a Native American guy. We just started talking to him, and it turned into talking about our faith. He said that he was a devoted to his native beliefs. I couldn’t seem to spit out words to ask him if he wanted to accept Christ into his life, but I think the conversation was still really encouraging for me.
