Purposeful Brokenness
forgetting what my life has cost
so wipe away the crimson stains
and dull the nails that still remain
so steal my heart and take the pain
take the selfish, take the weak
and all the things I cannot hide
take the beauty, take my tears
take my world apart, take my world apart
I pray, I pray, I pray
take my world apart
It is a foreign concept for me to pray that God take my world apart. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a masochist. I don’t go though life and I don’t love pain. I do believe that God uses the hard things in my life to conform me to his image. That is Gods goal in our life. He wants us to turn to him, and be changed into the likeness of his son. We are supposed to participate in the fellowship of [Jesus’] sufferings. When we catch this, and are transformed by Him, then we will be able to walk in the power that Jesus walked in. He uses the stuff in our lives to get rid of the bad qualities we have in our lives. If we were to be able to walk in the power that Christ walked in, yet still have our bad habits it would be detrimental for us and those around us. God is doing us a favor, when he disciplines us or doesn’t allow bad habits to stay in our lives. He is doing what is best for us.
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.
We are to be conformed to His image!
